Kringlukráin was opened for it´s guests on the offficial “Day of the Beer”,  the 1. of March 1989. At first it was solely thought of as a pub offering a light weight courses to enjoy with one´s drink but has since then developed into the fine restaurant that it is, with it´s varied menu and elaborate cuisine. They emphasize the creation of a friendly ambience despite where the older and younger generations can both enjoy themselves.

The Kringlukráin has sought to hold on to the traditions and have often surprised it´s guests by offering old Icelandic courses on relevant days, such as the Icelandic Þorri menu in the beginning of January, the traditional skate course on the day before christmas ( the 23rd of December in Iceland) and many others.

Kringlukráin aims at simpler dishes with excellent portion size instead of fine dining experience.  It's a safe haven away from the busy halls of Kringlan shopping mall and a popular restaurant for those attending the theatre next door.  During the weekends there is a great chance they have a live band and a busy dance floor.
